Ive seen you,
Last year you came out and helped my stranded friend in his red mini after his fuel pump went pop. I was in the blue mini with the tools. We never found that black screw driver that fell in the engine bay. Seeing your car in the flesh was mad, this car is insane, as is your workshop. ive also seen it in this months mini magazine.

Hi Jim Just seen the vid. My torque steer was uncontrollable when I first built my car. Equal length shafts sorted out 90% of that, then powersteering (hydraulic) smoothed it all out and made it comfortable to drive and helped cope with the tight diff. You probably know these things but I thought I'd add them as it's frustrating having all that power and not being able to use it.

Cheers for the advice Justin, did you run equal length drive shafts on the A series or was it on your vauxhall lump? Do you remember the state of my mini when I was parked on my Dad's drive next to you Nan's house about 15 years ago?? LOL I did think of power steering, but the electric version, but then I picked one up! I'm thinking of trying a steering damper first, never heard of it being done before on a car, but first for everything. Might give you a call soon to sort a dent out on the boot of my mondeo.
minimiglia0, I didn't use any kit, I made all the parts myself. I'm in the pipeline of doing my own kit, IMO better and cheaper than the rest, I'll keep you posted or check sheepseed.com
jitaljob, do you mean the braided brake lines which runs front to rear? I made the hose up myself.
ritz998, Glad to help when I can.
Cheers for the comments guys

Hi Jim I can remember something resembling a mini on the drive for ages, but couldn't remember what colour it was.....was it pink? No, I didn't run equal length driveshafts on my a-series or my crossflow powered mini's but they where top's 100bhp@wheels so didn't need them. Even though the vauxhall has performance cams fitted it has no powerband or big kick to agrivate torque steer. It will go up a hill slowly in 5th and take full throttle at 4000rpm without bogging but it would still try and aim for the nearest hedge. Equal length almost eliminated it. If you are getting a big huge rush of power suddenly then thats diffinately going to cause problems on any car. With regards to powersteering a lot of rally boys are now using the corsa electric powersteering racks in there mk.2 escorts and novas. A nova mate of mine changed from hydraulic to electric didn't like it because it was too sensitive then changed back. I can't remember if he used the sensitivity box you can now get though. I've never heard of anyone using a steering damper before. I have one on my bike and it only really helps viscious tank slappers when the bars are virtually ripped out of your hands. good luck
