That's got to be the most rust free mpi I've seen.

I know how fortunate I am, but then again it wasnt cheap, and the previous owner had really looked after her. Waxoyl has been this car's saving grace.
Dont think it's completely devoid of it though, the rear N/S light was hiding a nasty bit of rust, but like I said, better to be caught now. After this latest spruce up I'll be looking at injecting more Waxoyl.

Yep waxoil is great. I used a compressor to inject my sills under pressure so hopefully they are filled with the stuff.

As Lawson said that is amazing for an mpi to be in such good condition, I was looking at one the other day, and even though his had had a re spray it was in a much worse condition than yours. Its good you've caught the rust you've got when you have, much cheaper to sort

Sounds like a plan lj, reckon you could help me out with the compressor at some point soon? Gonna pay her a visit tomorrow, apparently there's clearance issues with the w&p arches up front :/

The mpi's have big square holes along the inner sills with gromets in them designed for waxoil injection. Probably the only good thing rover thought about

Glad someone found it funny lol. Yeah I was thinking that's what they were for. Hey that final drive for motorway cruising was quite a good idea too! As were the side impact bars!

True but I stick to proper roads their much more fun but the tall FD struggles on them, as for the side impact bars I don't want to find out lol

Quick update of the past few day's progress. As some of you might have noticed, she didnt make the deadline of Sunday's show (I guess my garage doesnt take dealines as seriously as American Chopper lol) and truth be told she was no where near ready. Nevermind though, here's the skinny. Nasty rot behind n/s tail light, sorted out: Rear arches fitted up with old holes welded up: Front arches being re-formed where the previous owner had hacked them away for more clearance; it was a bit of a mess under there and it had always bugged me: Out and waiting for paint, as of this morning:

Got a lot more done today, rubbed down all the arches and the front end. Unfortunately when I took the front screen out I found two little rust holes, so now it has to go out from the body shop over to the welder across the road again for them to be patched Another blow to my saturday morning deadline (meant to drive me and my mates down to devon for a birthday) Hopefully I can beg the welder to do it straight away tomorrow morning, so I can get on and prep ready for paint on Thursday. Windscreen out Front end rub a dub dubbed The dreaded results of digging with the grinder

Need to order up some new filler strip for the windows, and the paint still needs a lot of cutting and polishing. Over Easter I'm sure it'll be back in bits for more paint, I'm really not happy with the patchy paint, and it looks 20 times worse in the sun.

Looking nice dude, i've been thinking about changing my wheels to the old Cooper S, but i'm unsure on which ones, the Mini Speed copies that fit over the brakes for definite or just the normal Cooper S wheels. Are yours from Mini Speed or someone else? Dan
