i used to use
a tube o cream (forgot the name)
and 2 cotton cloths, 1 to apply the cream and the other to buff it up, nice and shiny

just went up the garage and had a look for the tube we used on our minis
the name of the cream in a tube is called AUTOSOL

Cut off both front wings and front panel.....replace with new one's.....job done !

Or just invest in a brand new Heritage shell? And rustproof and waxoyl the hell out of it.
