Theyr'e on form tonight. ;D I think there's a thread on here somewhere which has the Haynes book of lies on it. That should give you the correct grade.

The gearbox makes mincemeat of the oil at the best of times so a thicker oil would be an advantage, surely.

The oil that wa put in from factory and replaced at rover dealers was in fact 10w-40. But if you are losing oil pressure at 80 degress then change to 20w50. Something like duckhams q classic or equivalent.

p.s, are you running an oil cooler and is 80degress your water temp or oil temp?

yep i now use this tis a very good oil, its actuly one of the quality oils but rebranded, ythe name has slipped my mind tho

Same as with all Mini Engines. £13 from Halfords. Or in the for sale section there is a link to 10% an online oil shop. (which will probably do different makes etc)
