gutted for you mate, sure got 1 of the kids skateboards monica can borrow aslong as she don't damage that aswell ;D my car got hit 4 yrs ago + i was'nt in car, only knew cos a shop worker told me a old codger hit my car + went in the shop as if nothing happened so i waited till they came out + confronted them + it went through their insurance + my insurance went up £50 when i renewed policy cos of it ( data based crap ) i had full comp + not even in the car when it hit + was just parked up etc should ban all old f-rts from driveing ( except me of course )

Yes they should allow you to take it to any body repairer of your choice, but you'll have to do the leg work and provide a few quotes.
Sometimes the specialist body repairers are in cahoots with other similar businesses and they'll give you a quote and get other quotes sorted too at a higher price (so you're then able to use the repairer you want to use whose quote is cheaper).
Well that's how it worked for me when I needed work done.
Either way you're wise to avoid the recommended repairers as their only there to do the work as fast and as cheap as possible. i.e. not to the highest standards and Minis need to be fixed properly and not botched up.
You probably won't get a courtesy car either, but who cares so long as your Mini comes back good as new.

I'd imagine any insurance company would insist on genuine panels. At least mine all came direct from Rover when I had a prang a few years back.
So yes you shouldn't have a problem with them sourcing Heritage stuff.

Cheers mate, It's fixable so not to worry, Guess it could have been a lot worse, at least no one was in the car at the time, does that mean corina,s not in the brown stuff anymore?. ;D ;D ;D
