Hi guys... I took the DTM to my local Exhaust/Tyre place and the managed to Air-Chisel the stuck bit of pipe out of the back box! Took them a little while... but I prefer it to all be fitted properly. Then after cutting my hands to shreds on Herb... I finally got the DTM Exhaust fitted last night... What do you think?? Not looking to shabby eh?

It looks the canines.......... . Re the clutch, Is the "sticking" in the pedal, slave cylinder, or the clutch itself. ??

Hi dai9fsay
When I was down at Holly and Toms a couple of weeks ago and tried the clutch it wasnt so much sticking. It felt like when you depressed the cluch pedal it went down in jerky movements. Tom and I sprayed some wd40 onto the linkage (mainly under the bonnet not in the car itself) it helped but not much. I looked at the slave cylinder and to me it looked like this was not working properly, the plunger, for wont of a better word, seemed to be sticking as you depresed the clutch , either it`s worn or it`s seizing up, I think it`s seizing up. The clutch itself seems fine, no slipping, juddering or anything.

Well, I drove Herb to work today and it sounded great! Very loud indeed - certainly woke me up anyway!!
R.e. the clutch, as you know, I'm no good with the techno-babble so I'll just try and describe what I feel when I press on the clutch! When I press down on it, it's really stiff (used to be intermittent but is now all the time). Sometimes it feels as though it hasn't pressed all the way down and when this happens it then gets stuck at the bottom and will ping back out making Herb jerk forward??? Any ideas?

Okay. Get ready for some Techno babble. I had the same sounding problem on the Beige one a year or so ago. First of all i put new seals in the slave cylinder. No cure. Secondly i changed the s / cylinder for a new one. No cure. Thirdly i put new seals in the Master cylinder. No cure. I pulled the whole clutch and flywheel assembly off hoping to find a fault with theclutch plate etc. No cure. By this time i was fairly perplexed and sat down, had a long think. The only thing that i hadn't changed or looked at,(apart from the pedal box), was the clutch flexi hose, the one between the bulkhead and the slave cylinder. It looked as if the hose had been on there for a very long time so instead of taking it off and changing it for a new one i used a blast of compressed air through the hose. I re-bled the system and knew straightaway that things were better because i was getting a spurt of fluid out of the bleed screw. Hey presto, clutch as good as new. There must have been a bit of muck or something stuck in the flexi hose which dislodged when i blasted it with the airgun. TRy bleeding the system first to see how much fluid comes out of the bleed screw when you depress the clutch pedal. And, when the clutch pedal is released listen closely to the clutch master cylinder to hear if any air seems to be drawn into the cylinder.

Ahh cheers for that - pretty much all way over my head but Tom seems confident he can do it! Just needs a bleed kit now! Is this a problem that needs sorting sooner rather than later cos I need my car for work and not sure when we'll have the time to fix it?

Needs sorting asap Holly....you dont need a bleed kit you and Tom can do it easy yourselves...all your job involves is sitting in the car pressing the pedal down slowly as and when Tom tells you to

Ok then... we will just spray clutch fluid all over the engine bay!! Silly Hobbit!

You idiot....all you need is some tube...anything will do....I`ve used the pipe from the window washers before....Ive also done it without any tube as long as you use alot of rag around the bleed nipple (ok it`s not ideal but its better than nothing). You are only pressing the pedal down really slowly anyway so it`s not going to spray all over the engine..Bloooooody Kids !!!!!!

Nearly all done....
The clutch I will look at tonight. Need to get some fluid first.
But I sorted the exhaust last night... the manifold join was a bit leaky! But I took the carb off to get better access to the bolts, undid it and found the paste I had used in the clamp had gone into the groove which holds it all together. This prevented it from getting a proper seal. So I cleaned it all up and put it all back together again! Sounded wicked.. even throatier than before. But then the engine would only run for a bit then cut out, I then realised petrol was coming out of the overflow pipe underneath!?? I was a bit puzzled... so had a look in the manual... then took the float chamber top off and played around with the float... back together... sorted!
I have finished the centre console and installed it... what a bloody nightmare that was!! No space for movement... bloody gearstick in the way, bloody handbrake in the way... bloody heater in the way... bloody small cars!! (Don't you just love them!) But finally got it in and the stereo working.
Pics to come shortly! Or see it on the Bay Run on sunday!!
So tonight I will sort clutch... then put the new graphic in the rear window, put the seats back in (Hol has finally cleaned them!) and we are away!!
Will put some pics up soon on the forum... probably on monday!!
