We took sooty for her annual medical.....she failed on :
headlights out of allignment, and one needed changing
split gators on the steering rack.
emmisions, idle is ok but the other one way way up,
balljoints needed grease....
well.....tried to sort the gators, so off with the track rod end to pop them on.....well thats what we thought. track rod end had welded itself into the hole, would not budge so got 2 new ends for it and decided to lop the top off and apply a very large hammer, no chance. Anoying thing was that the drivers side just popped off, but the passenger side was not having any of it
we spent at least 7 hours trying to drill it out, we snapped, bent, melted, shredded and god knows what elce, at least 30 drill bits.....eventually we got a hole big enough to put the track rod through and get it out of the garage, next day we got a new bit for the track rod end to go into and prayed. the really bad thing was the the gator wasnt even broken...it was fine,.....grrrrrr
so shes got nice new gators, shiny new track rod ends and a freah bit of tracking, balljoints pumped full of grease, and a knackered head...
took her to tommy and shes not a happy mini, so hes rebuilding my old head....ordering us a black head gasket and with any luck she`ll be better by next week....the really bad thing is that the car is running lovely....ok, so shes overheating and using a bit of petrol where the broken head is pushing fuel through the exhaust...but she runs fine.....lol...going to cost about £150 but it will be sorted.....honest...it will !!!!!!!!!!!
oh the joys of mini ownership
