Without other mini clubs there wouldnt be a mini scene yes? So whats the harm in it. im a member on LOADS of different mini clubs Had a conversation about this with Phil on msn but I'd closed the window before thinking I could have transferred some of it into a post. The problem comes about when there are 4 or 5 clubs based in the same location covering the same territory. It seems rather pointless. South Wales Mini's could competantly cover from Swansea to Newport, as on a map, this would be considered as being 'South Wales'. The problem arises when someone doesnt like the way a club is run so they set their own club up and try to poach members from the already existing clubs to establish themselves. As you said, your a member of a number of clubs, but wouldn't it be easier to just have one 'bigger' club with sub divisions? Wales could easily be covered by just 4 major clubs, one for the North, the South, the East and the West, with an overall club title of 'Welsh Mini Club' I really didnt see the neeed for Celtic Mini's as its South Wales based, and South Wales Mini's already exists. Dragon Mini Club is another one that is South Wales based. The few people on TMF that live in or near Bridgend want to start their own club too. Having lots of mini clubs to support the mini scene is great, cant fault it one little bit, but we dont need 6+ clubs covering the same area, it really doesnt make sense to me.

The problem with having "one Welsh Mini club subdivided into 4 regions" would mean that when there is a show on how many members cars would manage to get on a Clubstand.?? NOT Many i would say.. EG. If "Welsh Mini Club applied for say, a 20 Car stand, that would mean on average 5 cars from each of the regions could be put on that show stand. Hardly representative of how many Mini owners there are in Wales. But, if each region could have 20 cars, things would look a tad better. But still not a fair representation of Mini owners. The more Mini Clubs in Wales the better, so us Welshies,(and not so Welsh ), can mob the shows and make more of a mark.

Have got to agree with Phil and Dai on this topic, there is always room for as many Mini clubs and forums as we can have cos its all good in keeping the Classic Mini scene alive and healthy and if any group of individuals want to start up a new club or forum then good luck to them. None of us get on with everyone else all the time and its only human nature that people have differences of opinions within clubs or against other clubs - No one will take part in any activities when they don't want to so I really don't see any problem. SWM has had the very good fortune to keep a strong core of friendly, hard working members - (with maybe one or two exceptions ) - that have made this forum as good as popular as it is and the addition of more regional clubs would not be a threat to what we already have. Poaching of members doesn't happen as no club can be exclusive and still expect to keep its members in the long run. Joint club meets or runs can only add to the Mini experience and if you don't agree - don't join in!! jc

As a new person to this mini club scene , and i have to say i am not the sort of person to jump into clubs to easily, as some make you feel welcome on paper (or internet) but when it comes to the crunch wont talk or aknowledge you on an open day or social evening . I have to say that smaller clubs must be the way forward as they are more personal. (i was made to feel really welcome on my first run with SWM). ;D ;D i like the idea of meeting with other clubs and think that a super club would create rivalry and would end up splitting anyway. To have runs with smaller clubs in the area would be brilliant and if some want to be exclusive and stay away then thats their problem, although this will do no good for the mini scene over the long term. No keep south wales minis as it is i have not joined any other club as i am happy where i am and think with my life style i can, and will only support the one club. No rivelry, fun days out corinas coffee ;Dwhat more is there. ;D

I'm a member of a few Mini Forums, but that's my problem although this one is quite my favourite and has many a good friend present. At the end of the day it's all about the Mini and why see other clubs as a threat when their there for the same reasons? I've got no time for BMW nor it's BINI, but that's my choice and I fell out with Cardiff Mini Club many years ago due to my strong feelings against it. So I don't mind mixing, so long as it's not with Cardiff Mini Club LOL.

Irish we're not poaching members honestly. If it wasn't for other clubs then there wouldn't be a mini scece - surely you can appreicate that? And what is the harm in everyone joining together to go on a massive club run? We all join together at shows whats the difference? And i hope that comment about snobby mods was not aimed at me or martin. let me clear this up for you,,, was martin a mod at the time? think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why are you having a go at Lucy again for Irish? I thought you'd made it up ages ago? Move on mate, Lucy has.

For us from Celtic my original post was not with malice or intended to poach members as has been suggested by some.
Celtic was set up for probably the same reasons that Phil started SWM and until you have made the decision to break away from everything and start something new it is quite difficult to understand.
Lucy and I both decided to leave M4 for reasons that are irrelevant to this but when we started Celtic it was never intended and some big conspiracy or rivaly to other clubs, quite the opposite.
From day one a few close friends have supported us in what we have done and we have been told by numerous people that it is at times like this you find out who your real friends are.
The original point is that celtic wants to see other clubs as friends and not enimies and we would like to do runs and inter-club competitions with other local clubs and we hope that the majority of other people feel the same way.
But we do all understand that it is the nature of the beast that some people will not agree with another local club. The simple solution to this is as other people have already said dont join it and dont join any group runs.
but back to the key point we are all mini enthusiasts with a core common intrest so surely we can all get along.

Nothing mate, it's just some people have issues with other members it seems? Mixing may or may not work, but you'll never know until you try. Why can't we all just get on, we're supposed to be Mini enthusiasts. So stop bickering Irish.
