The assessor has been out this morning and in his opinion as it's a cherished mini, RSP etc etc it should be repaired ;D YAY!! BUT..... it's been taken by Trick & Aubrey in Neath, who are now gonna strip her down and cost the work So we're not out of the woods yet. I am assuming now that the assessor has said it is repairable it shouldn't be Cat B'd So i should be able to get her back and do the work myself even if the insurance wont cover the cost of repair....Hopefully! So i'm still keeping everything crossed

Well thats good news!! My insurance company didnt even send an assessor out before they told me that "due to the age of the vehicle it is very likely to be written off". GAAAH! Glad youre having some joy! I'll keep my fingers crossed too

Well that is good news and perhaps the assessors are waking up to the fact real Minis are just a tad special.
I hope it all gets fixed up perfectly soon.

Hi, they were gonna right my mini off after a little bump up the back, told them about the UK trip and they gave me some money and said fix it yourself. So I did with a hammer and block of wood. I know it is not a showroom car but better alive than dead.
Good luck with your.

Been down to Trick & Aubrey today, they've priced the work and reckon it's gonna cost 4k to repair... they haven't told the insurance assessor this as yet cos they can't get hold of him, but i think this means she'll be written off To me this seems a bit pricey Have i the right to request a second opinion off another garage? Taff, Brace you seen it does it seems like it would cost that much to you? Help please i can't lose her

I would never have said 4K....
Nowhere near that , i thought,
i'd ask trick@n@aubrey for an itemised quote, and ask your insurance to send it somewhere else..
I've heard stories for years about trick/aubrey, but didnt want to mention cos i hoped everything would be ok.
ask your insurance for a second opinion.

Get it insured on an agreed value policy when the work has been done.
It's the best way to safeguard a Mini now.
Most Mini specialist insurers offer this policy, plus salvage retention rights too.

It looks like Honey wont be back on the road for sometime guys as it's gonna cost me about 3k to do So what i'm trying to do now is get enough outta the insurance to buy Honey back for a rainy day and also have enough for another Mini! Here's hoping ;D
