Well at least i think thats the problem Been having problem with the mini over last few days, Its been hard to start without my foot on throttle and idling too low and sometimes stalling out before its comes back up, even once the engines warm. This coupled with a flat battery doesnt help had to get the AA man to get me home today. But whats the most likely problem? It does need a service and has been running a bit rough but this has come on all of a sudden its not really driveable at the moment...

sounds like it could be either the O2 sensor or the tps

check all your wiring plugs on all the sensors, make sure your battery has a good charge as the ECU will reset every it goes flat. If all else fails I got a few spare sensors and I'm happy to help you out.

Also treat it to a full service if it's due.

Ok well went to have a poke around the engine today but unfortunatly the battery is completely dead so have to charge that first. Had a look at most of the sensors and the seem sound (the connections themselves and surrounding wiring) there was one wire at the back behind the air filter that had been a bit cut but taped that back up. Also the throttle cable was a bit loose when fully closed is that normal? I think im gonna have to take it to a garage so they can plug it in and see what the ecu says, fortunatly i work nextdoor to kwikfit on carmarthen rd so they said if i can get it there theyd do that for me.

Kwik Fit?
Be careful mate as they'll probably tell you that your brakes and suspension need sorting.

just a little update had them look at it as a favour so only cost me parts, had the plugs replaced and this solved the problem somewhat but its still not right and all the sensors are fine its still hard to start esp. when warm and also when de clutching it still goes to stall (down to 300-400 revs) but manages to catch itself. im going to order new ht leads and air box/filter (ive broken it with playing around and lost a clip) could it be anything else?? Thanks Dave

I'm not clued up MPIs so i can't offer any suggestions. There's a thread under Engines and Tuning (which Taffy posted) with a MPI guide. Have a nose in there just in case.
