Google brings up a lot of people talking about the car being pre '85 to legally remove side repeaters.
How true that is I have no idea, can't believe everything you read on the net lol

No, Rover only fitted them because they had to for legislation reasons, so it would be an MOT failure if they were removed.

so depends on the police locally then.
thing is its probably more hassle to put them on afterwards if there's no holes than just keeping them on anyway.

Hi, This may help www.ukmot.com/1-5.asp third group down Again if they are removed it maybe up to the local Police, I always think insurance companies being the main pain when they pull any clause to avoid paying up.

I've got a 1985 Mayfair and I took mine off when I first got the car...about 8 years ago?!
As long as youre gonna fill the holes back up, surely the police arent going to make a fuss. Its not as though theyre fitted but not working, is it?
I've probably just jinxed myself!

probably lol I think he's going to play it safe and just fit a set of tiny flush mount ones, that way if their not flashing theyll look like their not there, if they are flashing, hes legal.

hi lads a removed them off my nova when i first started driving and it went for m.o.t and the tester stood to the side of the wing and could see flash from the side not just the front of the vehicle so he passed them but he said if you remove them but cant see light from the side when there on then you will have to fit them again. i have just solved the mini side repeater problem. if you remove the side repeaters i am guessing you are going old school look? well if you put the glass front indicators on then you can see the light from the side . the plastic standard ones unfortunatly arent very clear from the side...

I've no idea why he's doing it to be honest, but he's going to just get some tiny small ones so that he's covered either way, we're no good at metal work see so if it comes to MOT time and he's got to add them to his fresh paint job its going to be a nightmare.
