Hey guys, i need some advise, I'm looking at getting a stage 1 kit for my Mini 1.3 MPI and i don't know if to buy all the bits separate and make my own or just buy a kit. I was looking at getting a Maniflow exhaust system with a DTM center exit exhaust, as I've been told Maniflow are one of the best. I'm just unsure which would be better to do, a kit or separate, and if a kit is better which one should i get? Thanks.... Dan

The way I look at it all stage one kits claim to have the the same bhp gain, so look at it the financial way , which is cheapest a kit or separates. by the way a dtm on an mpi is very load unless you get a twin box system. also go for a Cotton Green filter element instead of the usual K&N 1/2 the price and does the same if not a better job.
I got a maniflow manifold, link pipe and cat replacement pipe connected to a Playmini s/s side exit box. A Cotton Green element on top of a large bore throttle body and I'm extremely happy with that set up.

as far as im aware there are no stage one kits available for MPIs. You could do as you described and just buy an exhaust system to suit your tastes and engine from a good company (such as maniflow) and maybe an airfilter change, however im not sure how much extra poke you could expect from it.
edit::: oops apparently there are!!! they literally are just a new set of plugs, airfilter and exhaust though..
personally i would go down the route of getting the bits separate from shows.

Mini Sport do a stage one kit for mpi for between £250 - £280 and claim 15% power increase.

that rc40 system has got a nice note to it. (thought you where looking at the large type dtm thats very noisey). But like I said go for the element filter not the cone filter its better.

Give Maniflow a ring as they'll sort you out with the right kit, or try Somerford because I've heard they sell Maniflow products cheaper than Maniflow themselves?
