Its already had quite a bit done to it, when I got it it was a standard mini Mayfair. Its now got the white roof & bonnet stripes, Fog/Spot lamps, Black interior replacing the Gray it came with and a dashboard. I think that's pretty much all i want on it now, but you never know, things may change TM

Just by looking at some of the members cars on here will give you plenty of ideas if you do decide to do any more work / modifications to it.

Ok I have a problem!
Before i begin ill just say im aware the fuel mixture is off (I believe that's what it is anyway), and that if i leave it idling with no choke (when warm) it'll slowly decrease in revs and stall.
Anyway last time i drove the mini it had a few seconds where it kind of lurched forward a bit (Over and over, but only for a few seconds before it stopped). It only happened once in about 2 hours.
Then today, we changed the oil and oil filter and then i went for a drive, but when i was moving quite slowly, with low rev's (Although choke still half out as I hadn't been out long) it started lurching forward again, so much so i had to pull over and let my mum drive it back (she was in the car anyway).
My dad's positive its the carb, and it needs a rebuild/new carb. Is he right? Or is there something else that could be causing this? The HT lead's, Dizy cap, rotor arm and i believe points are new.

you could take the carb off and give it a clean out i. second hand carbs are quite cheap though, but then again, there's no garuntee its in better condition than yours is. off hand i dont know what to say because im not all there mechanically, i would check the timing, try and get the fueling as close as you can while its idling (using a colour tune), and if you dont want to take the carb off to clean you could do it the old fashioned way, stick some redex in the fuel tank and pour some in the carb mouth?

As Coedy says, it sounds like the carb. Try checking the throttle cable is not sticking while you're at it.

Also check the vacuum pipe from dizzy to carb is fitted in place and not split or chaffing.

Fixed(I hope)!! We replaced the carb, an improvement in the general feel of the car, but the problem was still there. so now we've replaced most of the ignition components and it all seams good.
Oh and ive booked my driving test... 26th of Feb!!

I forgot to say, I failed on the 26th , But took it again on the 16th and passed Now after a week or so of driving it around the small leak in the heater has got worse and is now so bad that water was almost pouring out of the heater as i was driving along! I quickly took it back home, and now im just waiting for a new heater matrix. Also, my steering wheel is the original one, with the lug for cancelling the indicators, but the lug is not actually reaching the black bit of the indicator unit which it needs to go in :s I tried just moving the indicator unit up but then it like to turn :/ Any ideas? could do it the cheap and nasty way? off with the wheel, take off the canceling poles. replace with tooth picks the correct length? keep meaning to do it to mine (different wheel though)
did yours never work? or did it recently stop?

Well we changed the wheel over, then changed it back again, and i THINK (i'm not too sure as i hadn't driven it with before we changed it back) its not worked since we changed it back. We also had the steering rack changed around the same time. I pretty much used to cancelling them now, but it would always be nice to have one less thing to do TM

Ive not updated this for a while, so i thought i would let you all know what's been happening to my mini! First, The rubber cones and shocks needed to be replaced cause the car was running ridiculously low! Not much of a the problem, Done at home and only took a day, nice learning experience haha Second, The drivers side wheel bearing and CV boot needed replacing. This was something we didnt have time to do, so sent it off the the Monaco Garage, who are pretty close, and very good with minis. Third, I managed to hit a curb and take a large chunk out of my alloy! Not good! lmao Got some second hand ones of ebay, problem solved And now, Well now my car has decided it wants to be 3 wheeled! Yesterday they lower suspension arm decided it wanted to come off and my wheel proceeded to pull away from the car, leaving it at about degrees from the road Luckily there was nothing coming the other way as i ended up in the other lane! Now this has been fixed (By the monaco again) and its back on the road... I wonder what will happen next! haha TM PS - Hes been named Trigger, after Triggers Broom from only fools and horses. Cause soon its going to end up an entirely different car from when it came off the factory line!
