Hey all,
Caught the under side of my car the other day which scraped my Sump and Pulled my Exhaust Front Bracket.
I sorted the exhaust, but have another problem.
Only driven it one mile since the scrape and fixing the exhaust ( at the spot ), but just gone to go out and the battery is dead. I used my other car, stuck my Jump Leads on and Sparks flew out from underneath the car ( with a lovely smell ! )
I obviously immediately stopped and disconnected the battery....
So, If the Live feed has rubbed or scraped as well and is now touching the body or something underneath ( too dark to see and the Jac is over my Dad's ) can it be repaired or does it have to be replaced. ( The latter is safer obviously ) If replaced is it fairly easy.
I am in the AA with Home Start. Will they help ? Or will they just take me to a garage. If they take me to a garage, any ideas on cost for someone else to do the job ? Or can someone recommend a garage in Cardiff to be taken to ??
Cheers
Matt

That's bad news mate, if you don't fancy tackling the job yourself, then I've heard good things said about Monaco Garage (Mechanical Repairs).
Their adress is Ty-Glas, Chiltern Close, Llanishen, CARDIFF, CF14 5DL. Tel:- 029 2076 3566.
(Ask for Lynn Elliot but Lesley (one of the owners) was recently restoring a 1968 cooper for road rallies).

I'd have never thought of that. I'll remove it tomorrow if I can. Welsh Autoparts in Cardiff ( Now changed name ) are really good I find ( charged me daft prices before like rocker gaskets for £1.20, and Pair of Brake Cylinders for £1.80, etc ) Hopefully they can help me again.. Thanks for the advice. Matt

It's my daughters and it's still a sore subject at the moment. The manufacturers are sending us new recovery discs and if that doesn't work then they'll take it back for repairs. I doubt their recovery discs will work though, as the ones I created were fine, but the laptop just won't load Windows. Anyway I'm sick of computers this week as I spent most of yesterday and today on the phone to Lexmark trying to get my combined printer/scanner set-up for WiFi wireless. It prints okay, but it just wouldn't scan. well that's now finally sorted, but then my internet connection became really slow, so I just shut it all off earlier on. It seems to be okay at the moment though.

Before you send it back to them, give me a shout and i'll meet up with you and look at yourlaptop.
Funnily enough, I had a combined Lexmark which ended up in the bin in bits as I kicked it ! Ended up buying a HP Combined and its Perfect.
As a little hint in the meantime, Take a photo of the Paper you want to Scan. Connect or put your memory card in your PC and send the image to the person via email.

Thanks mate, we might take you up on that, but it's under warranty so we'll see how far we get that way for now.
The printer/scanner seems to be working perfectly now, but I can't believe the hassle trying to get it set-up. It's ridiculous!
Like I said it would print perfectly on WiFi, but not scan.
So I had to download a programme to wipe Lexmark off my PC. Then download the most up to date driver off their website. That still didn't work.
So today their top supervisor rang me and I had to enable him to remotely (I think that's the right term?) get into my PC and so he had full control of the cursor and the contents of my hard drive.
He sorted it, but I still don't know exactly what he did. But surely these things should be plug and play and not take up 2 days of support trying to configure the damn things?
The instruction book is like the bible, but doesn't tell you anything useful when WiFI fails to work.
Still it's sorted and working a treat now. Touch wood!
;D

As a tip, go into your Security Settings and turn " remote access off ". Once you give them access, it often stays on and becomes a great way for virus's / scammers to get in !
Just to let you know !
