I just noticed today that our local council have put 2 sets of speed humps on the 'main' road just past Ton Pentre Police Station. I know there's a school nearby, but the main entrance is in another street. So god knows why they've bothered putting the speed humps there, because few people speed along that road as it's right by the Police Station. The council have painted white lines around them, but I've noticed that cars have already bottomed out on them, considering the amount of deep sump shaped gouges. No doubt the poor motorists were taken by surprise as their hardly noticeable and I'm going to have to really be careful when I'm driving the Mini.

I'm quite lucky with the ones I need to pass in Cardiff. They have removed the Speed humps ( full width ) and put the little liddle of each lane ones ( which seem specifically designed to wreck the underneath of cars ) My mini feets between the hump and the kerb due to the Cycle Lanes, or fits between to two humps ( my lane and the other lane ). My other Car is a New Grand C4 Picasso ( Minibus ) which drives over with each wheel missing the hump completely.

Well the roads aren't great here either, only today whilst driving along the New Road by-pass (which is notorious for flooding), I re-enacted the scene from The Italian Job as I hit a massive flood/puddle in the dark and I felt like I was driving a submarine considering the amount of water that shot up the screen. Anyway those speed humps are going to do a lot of damage to people's cars, not only for the ones who are unaware of them, but just from forgetting their there. Our council is rubbish.

So long as I'm driving the Mini at a reasonable speed I can go straight over the top, with my wheels clearing each side of the hump. My Minis not too low, so I'm okay so long as I take it nice and easy.

Regarding height.
My mini is really low at the front. Someone said it could be the age of the parts ? but others say fit Hi-Los and it'll sort it.
Are they easy to fit, or do I need other bits, or a compressor or something ?
Cheers

Monaco Garage? This thread pretty much shows what's involved, even though the owner is fitting those fancy Mini Sport Smootharide Cones/Springs and Adjusta-Rides (similar to Hi-Lo's). The principle is the same though: - www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=55065&hl=smoothaThis is the instructions that come with the cone compressor: -

You should have claimed compensation for new parts. I don't know, we pay enough for our road tax, mot, fuel, parking, etc, etc. Their just taking liberties.
