its seemed to calm down a fair bit now. it only fluctuates around 2 or 3 mph if im going under 35. anything under that its nice and steady! the dash will have to come out soon to fix some warning lights that arn't working and to check if i can fix my temp gauge... so will have a look then! ;D

arr tidy could of just been trapped cable then. thight see.. when you get clocks out just spray wd40 down in the cable and that might free it up.

Well if you manage to get your temp gauge working again, please let us know as I'd love to get mine fixed too. I believe it's got something to do with the soldering on the PCB, or the voltage regulator is soldered into the PCB?

ive no idea... im just hoping the multi-plug thing isnt clicked in properly... at the moment im telling the temperature by my heaters lol.... i may just invest in a thermostat controlled fan... do your lights work taffy? my oil light and my main beam light dont work.. i hope its just the bulbs though and unrelated to the temp gauge... (my own fault for changing to three clock...wish i stayed with 2clock now )

the loom is the same though so that shouldnt be the problem. have you still got your original 2 clocks? if so detach the 3 clock assembly (remove the rev counter) and put the rev counter and loom onto your old 2 clocks which i am presuming were working ok. you should lose most of your problems if it was the dash lights and gauge etc.

will that work though? my 2clocks are smith ones and the three clocks are seiko ones? this may be worth investigating...my dad has mentioned it before but i thought because of the different makes it wouldn't work...
I meant maybe the connection for the harness may not be clicked in fully so theres a duff contact or two maybe?
if i can go back to my 2clocks and add the rev counter i will! lol.

place the wiring sheet from the 3 clock onto your 2 clock and see if everything lines up. if so your onto a winner.

(my own fault for changing to three clock...wish i stayed with 2clock now ) Yes everything works fine, just not my flaming temperature gauge! It never moved that much from the day I bought my Mini in 1994. Then some time around 2001 I replaced the temp sender by the thermostat and hey presto the needle was up to the centre 'normal' mark all the time. Then soon after my coil started to pack in and sent the temp gauge haywire and reading 'HOT', until my Mini conked out, just outside my garage as luck would have it. But after replacing the coil and getting it all running nicely again my temperature gauge hasn't moved an inch and I've even tried shorting out the sender to no avail.
