My Dad said he's interested in changing the filter in his mini for a high flow one. (Piper-cross or K+N) Trouble is He doesn't want the car to be too loud afterwards. is there any noticeable gains with induction kits of replacement elements on MPI's ?
and which do you suggest based on the above?

I've got a cotton green replacement element on my mpi, same gains as the K&N for half the price and it can also be cleaned and is pretty quiet

Oooo I love the induction noise from my mpi's K&N! Its really growly when you short shift or bury your foot at low revs, but if you drive right it makes no more noise than standard.

An element insert makes more sense that a cone filter as you still have the filter housing baffling the noise. You could also mod the housing with a few well placed holes. I saw it this week somewhere where the poster mentioned doing it to Vizard specs either on here or tmf

Oh yes, the best remedy for a quiet upgraded filter is definately a drilled standard box with an upgraded element.
