I don't think it's possible unless you drop the rear of the front subframe to allow some clearance. The subframe doesn't have to come out altogether. The problem is that the U bolts need to go back in practically square to their mounting points and the close proximity of the subby won't allow them to.

Take out the top (tower) bolts. take off the rear (front) subby mounts. Loosen the front (tear drop) mounts. Oh, before that jack the front end clear of the ground, support the car under each side with axle stands etc. Let the car down onto the stands then using a hefty lump/s of wood between the jack and the front subby, raise the jack to take the weight of the subby / engine. Then undo the above bolts / nuts. Now, sometimes you can get away without taking the exhaust off altogether, but to prevent the exhaust from getting damaged it may be necessary to take the rear and centre mounts off. I'm not sure how the automatic gear change extension works/ fits, so that is another item that may need to be loosened or taken off. The carb may also be in the way and may need removing. When you're sure that all the above is checked start lowering the jack SLOWLY and checking everywhere in the engine bay in case something starts getting in the way or being stretched. The subby only needs to drop about 3 in at the most. Make sure the front subframe mounts are not being unduly stressed.
