Just fitted this new light to the back as the old one didnt work at all. Garage told me the old light unit was shot, so I went and got this shiney one at caslte coombe last year. Got round to fitting it the other day, just modified and painted the old bracket rather than drilling holes, and it looks pretty cool. Only thing is the fact that it doesnt work! I switch it on, and it just blows the fuse. Put a big 25A fuse in, the biggest I had with me, and the light came on for a bit and I watched the fuse smoke and pop lol. It's obviously drawing way too much current, anybody else had this problem with this type of lamp? Whats the solution?

looks like a dead short from the live cable to earth, check your wiring especially where it passes through any grommets or holes in bodywork as it may have chaffed there. jb snr

Yeah thats a good point, infact when I'd just plugged it in and not pushed the wire back through the valance it worked ok, so that could well be the solution. Cheers mate I'll have a look.
