One of the new cv boots had slipped off, after disturbing the whole front end he reckons top and bottom balljoints on offside need replacing now, something about the wheel bearing being loose and he said he couldnt adjust the offside headlight enough to bring the beam into the right alignment. He is going to give me a ring back with a quote to sort it all out.

Mmm! I thought a re-test was to only test the items previously failed on not the whole lot again. Did he give you an advisory on the ball joints, as I would be surprised if they just went!! Where's the MOT station as it maybe one to avoid.

Peak Performance in Brynmenyn, they give me a quote for £200 and my dad has already given them the go ahead when he called in to find out exactly what was wrong

nope if it fails on brake test or emissions then yes you can partial retest those items and certain issues if a fail could be turned into a advisory during retest. anything like steering, suspension and general checks arent sectioned like the other m.o.t sections.
