Correct badges ( one for Taffy ? )

Anyone know what the correct bonnet and boot badges are for a 1972 Morris Mini ? Have searched but cant find any close up pics and all different types listed on ebay

Well exactly what model are we talking about here? A round nosed fronted Mini or a Clubman?

If it's a round nose, is it a Mini 850 or a Mini 1000?

Right, I'll assume it's a round nosed MKIII Mini and my first Mini was a 1975 MKIII Mini 1000 in the very beautiful BL colour of Tahiti Blue. So a 1972 model would have the same badges.

This is the actual bonnet badge as fitted to all MKIII Minis (including the very short lived 1970-71 MKIII Mini Cooper S): -



Lovely isn't it? From the MKIV of 1976 onwards, it changed slightly and the BL name got incorporated into it.

As for the rear boot badge, well I couldn't find the exact type I was looking for via the Mini Spares site. But these will give you a very good idea of what to look for.

The first is the rear badge of the short lived 1970-71 MKIII Mini Cooper S and the only difference between that and all the other MKIII saloon models was it could either read '850', '1000', 'Clubman' or '1275GT': -



Here's a similar 'Mini Clubman' rear boot badge, although it's of the 1976 MKIV onwards type since it has the 'Leyland' motif too. The MKIII models didn't come with that: -

So Mini Spares obviously don't have the Mini 850 or Mini 1000 boot badge in stock. But I'm sure Somerford Minis will have them all.

I just found an old snap of my first Mini taken back in 1985. You'll have to excuse the horrible plastic wheel trims that got fitted though: -



Okay so it got a respray and a white roof added after I had my first spectacular crash a few days after passing my driving test. Yes I was once young and dumb too.

Oh and with the introduction of the MKIII Mini range from October 1969 (or March 1970 in the case of the MKIII Mini Cooper S).

The Austin and Morris badges were dropped as the 'Mini' became a registered trademark in it's own right.

Okay the average BL dealer still registered them as either Austin or Morris on the V5's (depending on what dealership they were prior to the BL take over in 1968).

But they still became just Minis and not Austin or Morris Minis anymore.

I still have the passport to service booklet for my first Mini (that 1975 MKIII Mini 1000) and that was registered as a Morris Mini 1000 too.
