Well the thread about which Mini Mag is best appeared on The Mini Forum and so after our recent 'rolling road day' snub I just thought I'd air my own views. Which obviously ruffled the feathers of Craig of Mini Mag Towers as he tends to hang out there: - www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=123297&st=30&gopid=1439240entry1439240 ;D But okay there is a lot going on this year, although I'm sure all the adverts and rubbish will still appear anyway?

one thing I realised when reading through the latest one... more adverts than ever this month.... seems its not just mini owners cashing in on the mini50 ey... and the best bit is in the front when it says "stuff we dont like" section they said: 'why does everything mini related on ebay have the words "COOPER S" in the keywords?? obviously people trying to cash in!'

That's very true as the words 'Cooper S' automatically mean it's worth far more than words with just 'Mini' in them.

Good Rant ;D ;D
Its right about the 'throw as much money as you can' mini features and then listing in the 'For sale' section at the end. I'm sure if I spent £17K on a Project Blue it would be ready next week and in Mini Mag a few months later.
Classic car up keep (and I've been into them and Mini's for a number of years) is about the effort you put in and skills you have and learn, even if that skill is buffing and re-assembly after a spray job right up to full welding and metal fabrication.
I remember buying a magazine called Classic Car a number of years ago and when they started having articles on Bugatti and restorations starting at £100k I knew I needed to look elsewhere for a magazine. Mini Mag needs to remember the ground roots of the mini, its owners and clubs that keep the car alive.

Can't beat a good rant but it has to be said. If money were no object then surely all the fun, commitment, passion and love of owning a Mini would be false, it's through pure energy for that little(BIG) piece of motoring legend that has got it where it is today, magazines should be bending over backwards for stories on clubs and its members, it illustrates the massive cross section of society that are brought together through one cause. Solicitors, Soldiers, Police, Students(who incidently pay a big part in keeping the Mini alive) the list is endless but when all brought together demonstrate how we can all get on together. Part of the fun is having the ability to bring back to life something that would have otherwise become lost, its not often that when your car has a glitch you can get out and take a look without the requirement of a laptop, skills which are rapidly fading. It's a breath of fresh air when you see a youngster today look towards buying a Mini and not that Bini rubbish, these guys and gals are the future who need to keep this legend alive, so when they turn up to a RR session reporters should be on their knees wanting to write about them and tell the motoring public 'Why they own a Mini', sadly Money talks and if you can splash the cash to no limit then they will write some tripe. It's about time that the narrow minded editors wake up and smell the coffee as without people like us they would not have a story to tell but just another admag which can take pride of place in the toilet(need to crumple the pages first, not like other soft toilet paper). Mini Mag is only there because we let it exist, something they need to remember. So with that said, How is everyone? ;D

Brilliant post and you have hit the nail on the head there I'll post up the replies I had from minworld and minimag tomorrow regarding the rr session, and I'm sure Irish had the same response, they were simply not interested unless we did the editorial work for them, I tried and sent it off but never had a reply. With smaller mini clubs disappearing you would think they would try to keep on good terms with a club with 350+ members

Yes it really sucks Phil and that Craig was trying to make out that I was the troublemaker by airing my views on that forum, just because he thought the matter had been closed some time ago since he sent me a poxy PM. Well it's a free country and I'm entitled to say my piece after all? But yes, without us they'd have no reason to exist at all. But with great Mini forums like this, we really don't need their patronising advert filled rags anyway.

Cheers, but it's become more of a group effort now. ;D I've avoided buying Mini World for quite some time as I know what the people who produce that mag are really like (or at least some of them) and their really not that nice. They always feature the 'Mini Bandits' club, because Mini Bandits is run by those at Mini World and their just a major clique. But I'm very disappointed in the attitude from Mini Magazine, because I honestly thought they were different and better.

Well have you all seen the reply that a so called 'new' member (littlejan) posted? Oh so we all need to get a life and grow up and this came from somebody who only joined that forum to post those messages at 1.24am? Well I smell a rat and I think littlejan either works at Mini Mag Towers herself or is somebodies (from Mini Mag) wife instead? Either way she's got my back up, so I hope I didn't go off on one too much? But what a cheek and it's lovely to imagine that Mini Mag see us as nothing more than a 'little club'. Or she could just be an innocent little old lady whose standing up for Mini Magazine against us naughty militant Mini owners who dare to have our own point of view?
