What age does your car have to be, to be eligible for the black and silver number plates?
Thanks.

Any car registered before January 1st 1973 is okay to use them. After that and you're asking for trouble.

You can try them anyway. I doubt you'll get stopped. Keep the legal plates though for the MOT

So play it cool and be friendly, not mouthy. Either way motoring today is expensive enough without having to pay fines or receive points on your licence? So just fit the correct type for your age of Mini and then you won't panic every time you see a panda car in your rear view mirror.

Black plates shouldn't fail an mot, They should only fail if the spacing / font is wrong

You walk a dangerous path my friend. ;D They do look fantastic, but I wouldn't have the guts to fit them myself. I can barely afford to run my Mini so the last thing I'd want is a hefty fine or worst.
