I have managed to split the car wiring loom loom and remove the alarm with all the cables and the rear car loom so I should be able to use the later loom with the earlier front loom with a bit of jiggery pokery! The wiring diagram I have suggests it should be possible to tie the alarm in to the standard loom as the only inputs it seem to have other than the door switches is the diagnostics socket which will only give signals when plugged into a diagnostics machine, and all outputs seem to be signals to tell the ecu to start or not to start which isn't an issue as I am not using the ecu. My problem is I have noticed I have a 3 pin socket attached to the alarm ecu loom which has 3 wires attached, white with black trace, brown with black trace and a black. These go to a 3 pin socket similar to all the rest of the injection car plugs BUT it doesn't appear on the diagram, is there an option for panic button or anything similar because I am not sure what plugs into it and if I can, I would like to use the alarm.

Not entirely sure, but maybe something to do with the hazzard flashing facility that some of the rover alarms had? Seemed to be random in production, some had them some didnt. There was never a panic feature as far as I'm aware, so this might be the only thing that wouldnt be on the wiring diagram. If it is the flasher plug, you're a luckey man because I wish my hazzards flashed when I unlock/ lock the car lol

I'll wait till I got the wiring in the car then I'll check for outputs as it will be easier when it is all wired in. Spent hours sorting this out so far as I have to cross check all wiring colours between 89 and 96 harnesses. So far managed to strip the loom whilst leaving plenty of length to tie in the rear loom and alarm and put it all on paper, i.e. colours in / colours out. Just gotta wait for my heat shrink to arrive now to start soldering.

Sounds like you've done a lot of the hard work then. Well done for not giving up and torching the lot, and all the best for getting it done soon!

Well I didn't sell the front car loom, only the injection one, so I opened up the car loom and left as much length as possible before cutting. I ended up with cables which will now reach from inside the car right to and past the engine, so I can now tie into the old rear loom feeds which I think are bayonet connectors behind the engine. The strange this is even 80% of the wiring is the same colour. Just takes time thats all. So it means I can leave the windscreen washer bottle in the boot and just pick up the feeds at the front. It should be ok.........I hope.
