They look the right type When you say they are not fitting, is it the inlet holes that are not lining up

Is there a number or code on the inlet manifold.? If the inlet manifold is the wrong type the carbs will not be at the correct angle and will foul the bulkhead.

there is a code that says- fireing order 1.3.4.2??? if that helps. When i tried them they seamed as if they whernt on anough of an angle so i was thinking maybe there was a part missing like a block inbetween the manifold and heat shieldto give the carbs more lift but dont know??? will be verry greatfull for any help thanks

Hmmm. The standard twin HS2 inlet manifold should have the code AEG347 on it. The option standard Inlets are coded 12G2463 or C-AEG488, the latter being a Special Tuning part. I'm pretty sure that twin SU's don't use a spacer block, only single carb set ups use them. Your inlet manifold, sadly, may be the wrong type, but without comparing it to a BMC item it's difficult to say.

When you say they line up but are hitting the bulk head, have you actually been able to fit the carbs and bolted them up. There isn't a lot of clearance between the bulkhead and the carbs.

i was unable to bolt them up as they where hitting the bulkhead and the heat shield was catcing the exhaust manifold. To me the carbs seem as if they dont have anough of a pitch on the manifold wich isnt giving them anough lift. I have found a spacer that you can by for them which may give the carbs that extra lift up but dont know if it will work??? TANKS FOR YOUR HELP

I can't find a match to that code No you posted up. Another thing that makes me think that it isn't a Mini inlet is the lack of cut-outs on the mounting flanges where the inlet fits onto the cylinder head. I'll try and dig out an inlet manifold on the weekend, for a comparison.

Ebay is probably the best place to start hunting for them. You could be lucky and get hold of one reasonably cheap. Make sure that it is crack free and none of the carb mounting studs have sheared off though.

Found these earlier. The first pair of pics are of Twin SU's for a MK2 Cooper S. The inlet is an AEG 573 type which is correct for that model. It does have aluminium spacers though, about 5mm thick. Side view. This is a pair of 1 / 3/4 HS6's with an aftermarket inlet. No spacers on this set-up though.. Side view. Hope this helps.
