If the original mini and the replcement shell are both bought legaly then go for it it's not harming anyone and i bet there are a lot more minis on the road with a lot more serious undeclared mods and there must be 1000's of minis that have been restored where more than 50% of the bodtywork is not original.

that system isn't used any more now, the only way you can physically keep the same plate now is with a BMH shell any thing else will get a age related plate ( Q plates have also been scrapped) or if you dont inform the DVLA / VOSA of the reshell its a ringer which is a criminal offence im not saying dont do it, theres a hell of a lot of minis still alive thanks to reshelling with second hand shells, just pointing out that technically its not legal. im not gonna admit to doing it myself but lets just say i know of at least one mini

Now im totally confused what to do think a shell is the answer and gonna go that way, plus will then build from scratch as have found looooads of rust

just weld your shell pal my wife works in the dvla and she said its some times a night mare when u reshell a a car welding isnt that hard when u get a hang of it if u need some help pm me as my best friend is a welder and he does my rally car when i bang it and it needs new pannels put on
