If you can get your hands on a copy of Tuning BLs A Series Engine by David Vizard, it has a very good section on Turbos. AS for me, sorry, out of my depth there I'm afraid.

I have the said book here, willing to lend it to you if required, i've just looked briefly at the topic and boy does it go into depth, too deep for me

Did it mention sticking the T3 in the bin and fitting a low blow turbo on like a T2 or T1.5 like the one in last months Mini World? I did ring Turbo Technic's about that but no parts available to make that kit

If fitting a T2, you'll need a Mirarge manifold, which is around £200ish for a second hand one. The T3 is too big really for a Mini, but Rover had them lay around, so used them. Intercoolers - These are not just to make the engine bay look pretty, and are not the icing on a cake, its more cake But will need to modify the plenum to allow for a take off, same as fitting a dump valve. Dump valves - not just make you heard, or boost your rep with the local chavs, but dump valves allow the turbo to keep spinning, and help by reducing the lag between gear changes. Turbos - the smallest turbo you can get is a T2, the standard item is a T3. The main differ between them, other than pysical size, is when it "come in". The T2, due to having smaller "vains" will spin up and come on boost quicker than a T3. Although a T2 will spin up quicker, you can only run about 10-15psi of boost, whereas a T3 can go right up to around 25-30psi. On average, for a 1293cc turbo engine, you can see power levels of around 150bhp, and 170ft/lb of torque, VERY fast, but yet expensive if it goes wrong. If ya need to know more, let me know

Always looks shoe-horned in with turbo's don't it Looks good though Gareth, but you might want to think about moving the filter nearer the front of the car... I know you have a hairdryer on it, but even with turbos, cold air is always better than warm "still" air

Is the bonnet vented at all??? The Zeemax Induction Cowl bonnet maybe worth you while as it will get cold air to your turbo and as the air filter is in that position cold air to that aswell.

How about getting a front mounted radiator, this well solve any over heating problems, move the intercooler to where the rad was and fit a cooling fan to it off a bike. Will tidy up the pipe work and you can feed the air filter to the O/S front behind the grille to add some ram air effect.

Can't fit a FMR with a dizzy in the way.
In all honesty, if I went turbo, a flip front would be a need for me, it would be the only I could get everything I need/wanted in there lol
