you say no black box on side of dizzy? so would i be right in assuming your running points. if so check gap condition what the condenser thingy like. is there a crack in the cap. yes running points now, condensor seems ok + no crack in the cap

Next stupid question........... Have you got a good engine earth ? one quick way to check is use a jump lead from the engine block to the bodywork jc

Try starting it with the Air filter on. Your air / fuel ratio is all to pot.

Try starting it with the Air filter on. Your air / fuel ratio is all to pot. will do mate

You need enough oil to cover the plunger on the end of the black cap thingy but not so much oil as it comes over the top of the carb as you screw the cap on

think it must be timing as you said phil, atleast got lights this time when i push it back around from garage as a ass---e tried to pull out as i was pushing car along the side of them last time and they were told what silly f-----s they were lol will keep trying + report back later

would be alright if i had'nt killed the head on my 4 x 4 the week before but not been able to drive now for nearly 3 weeks as haveing prob getting someone to come + tell me exactly what needed for the 4 x 4 i.e. new head or perhaps even engine etc. going stir crazy stuck in the house apart from odd escape on public transport which i can live without. cutter on standby for both vehicles mate as totally p----d of with cars

hi me again its bugging me know you could having someone to crank the engine over while someone else turns the dizzy and see if it sounds like its going to catch at all .

same as he said...lol..... a very big thankyou for all your help....it seems i cant have a normal car with normal problems....
all the electrics work ok now except for hazzards, but i know why they arnt working....still no ignition light on dash, reckon when the alternator wires burned out it took the alternator and clocks with them......
going to recheck everything tomorrow , buy a feeler gauge and listen out for the bang...lol...
any more ideas still welcome....lol....remember i`m a numpty at timing though

You can't be far away from getting it to run now! If you have fuel and you have sparks you just need the timing to get it to go bang! Keep at it and best of luck! jc

as far as i know the wires are the right way around....and its sparking at the plugs...
as for the adjusting the dizzy whilst turning the engine over...i`m a born chicken and dont fancy another bump off it...lol....
