Had the mini for about 2 months now and a few little problems have started to arise, the car has been running really well although it's drinking alot of fuel. Driving at town speeds today the engine noise changed and ouldn't rev through cleanly, by the time we got the few miles to home it was really struggling. It starts fine but seems to chug violently on start up but will rev through. I'm abit of a novice with cars but from my experience with scoots i'd say timing may have slipped and the idle speed is out? Am I right and if so how do I get it sorted?
Cheers peeps ;D

timing will not have slipped as it is chain driven. problem sounds more with the carburettor some details of your setup will prob be needed for a better diagnosis

hi thanks for the reply, it's a standard mini flame red 998cc it's been a little sluggish when pulling away for last couple of weeks but only in the morning on clock it seems to be idling at 2-300 when you pull out choke 1/4 it'll idle nicely at 8-900 which i'd guess is about right but it then cuts out when you rev the engine?

checked all spark plugs, all are fairly black but ok, 1&2 are dry but 3&4 are wet, car will still run after removing all different sequences of ht leads but will not idle at all with choke in or out but will happily start and rev through???
we do have a mini place literally a mile down the road but as i'm not up to speed with cars and I don't really know the places reputation I don't fancy getting ripped off ;D

right, managed to sort out the idling issue and just taken her for a spin, still a little sluggish pulling away, not as much power as it used to have and a loud knocking noise which only sounds when car is in drive, no noise when revving in neautral?
