My head gasket's gone, we took the head off to see because I was losing power and it was getting very hot. The gasket is gone between cylinders 2 and 3.
Do you recommend putting a new gasket in or having the block/head checked for straightness???
Good to have the problem diagnosed tho!

you could try putting a straight edge eg metal ruler across the head and see if its flush.

Shove a straight edge (metal ruler) on the head (the surface nearest the block) to see if its warpped or not, if it isn't, you'll be fine.
Just make sure you replace the HG with a genuine Copper Gasket - if its a 998... if its a 1275, get a Payne BK450 Head gasket (as sold by Minispares)

if it was me i would have head skimmed to be sure rather than have to do it all again etc

all fixxed new exhuast one , seesm abit funny doesnt sound the same obv because of the new exhauts but yeh gunna have to get used to it . bonnet keeps poping up aswell. gunna make a few more adjustments to most but atleast its on the road again  causing chaos as norm! |

we went out in the mini for a drvie around cardiff... it seems very gassy sounding? but maybe thats ebcause its all new , still abit slowish but its not like im in a hurry to be places  . so im very glad i have him back. lukes minis still not done byron . theyve started doing the hinge panels. but as for it being on the road soon im not sure i hope he has it done for bristol. wev ehad abit of a fall out with a mini spares place locally so well be waiting for parts when ordering but may save us money i guess. so we cant put a time on when itll be finished any more |
