I have a 1976 mini clubman which has a 1000cc engine and is missing and is under power and struggles to get up hills as has nothing there it just struggles. could this be the timing or the carb setup? and were is the best place to take it ? thanks

Best to give it a service before taking it anywhere, as that's probably what a garage will do and charge you for it. New air filter, plugs, leads, points, set the tappets. Also, check the timing and if you can borrow a Colortune (or buy one, about £15) check the mixture. Oil change and coolant change at the same time if you can.
That should get it running its best and is all fairly simple if you have a Haynes manual.

Oh, and some oil in the carb dashpot. 3In1 oil works well.

has the problem just started or has it been there since you have owned the car? had a simaler problem on my car when i bought it and was just the wrong type of coil fitted.

Better provided it is set up properly but remember to inform the DVLA you have changed the engine and your insurance or you will get in all sorts of trouble.
