hello
Ok, I've been looking for my first mini for a while now, and think I've finally found it, but need a little bit of advice..
It's a reshelled 1972 mini 1000, body work excellent, runs well .. and OK interior.. made up to look like a cooper..
Asking price is around £3000, but I'm not sure if that's too much? And is there any specific I should be looking out for?
Any advice would be most welcome.. I'm very excited!

Any pictures?
Check EVERYWHERE for rust, although if its been re-shelled you shouldn't have a problem. I'd advise taking a friend who knows his cars to view it with you, just in case.
Good Luck though matey.

I've been to view it.. took my dad.. he was a mini enthusiast back in the 70's .. so he know's his mini's! Was telling me when he used to work on mini's he used to drain the fluids then just stick a matress on the floor and then tip it on its side1 It seems a good mini.. but unsure if the price is way too much, and I'm hoping to use it as a day to day car and wondering if a 40 yr old car is a bit too old for that.. Altho we went for a drive in it (altho I've not actually driven it my self yet.. but will if I decide to go for it before i do..) it went really well and didn't seem to struggle or do anything bad..!

It does sound at the top end of the price scale, but if it has been reshelled / restored properly it could be about right, do you know if it was reshelled with a new shell or just a later shell? do you have any pictures?

It looks very clean, Love those seats too.
Interior is pretty clean
White & Black is a lovely them going for it myself (with a boy racer touch though)
If the bidding doesn't go wild could be a VERY nice car for the money.
Keep us posted.

He's saying he's hoping for around £3000 for it and won't let it go for less and will remove it from Ebay if it doesn't. Would you be wary if the ceiling inside looked a bit damp? in the front two corners it was kind of brown?

I would say if it damp inside thats not preferable is it really. mines like that when it rains but I got more rust holes in mine than I got good metal haha. brown as in rust yeah? where about the A panels or the inner scuttle(corners of the windscreen)? From what I've seen from shells the older cars where made better. I've seen a 70's shell in much better condition as in no rust than my 12year old. although the 72/71 bit means no tax saves ya 120ish a year. being a 998 should be cheaper insurance than a 1275. bout as much as I know on the subject though sorry Ainsley

Hello! I'm not sure whether rust or not. didn't have a really good look! ( was being daft.. I'm not sure if I'm letting the amount I want a mini cloud my judgement!

Yeah its easy to do, I did the same with mine, I was having it regardless, although taking my brother got an extra 100 nuggets off. But mine didnt turn out all that bad actually, just keep your eyes open, theres many for sale about the place, so theres plenty to turn down, and hopefully you'll find a gem about

Yeah I agree, I did that with my mini. I had to have it. It's not been too bad but have had to pay out for alot and should paid more attention to the bodywork . Like Hunt said plenty more mini's out there

That sort of money you want it to be perfect. I would anyways, you can pick a decent motor up for about 1500, and a good one for 2k, keep an eye on forums, you'll often find a lot of history about the car there too.

I know that numberplate... hmm. Cant think where from though. That engine bay does not look like a 3 grand engine bay either, that's still a lot of money for a mini, and I think he's very optimistic about that price.

Will do, I'm not seeing may for sale on here tho! Oh I really want a min!! I've been watching ebay every day.. but I'm in Pembrokeshire, so not easy to go see them before the auction ends when I see them come up!

Have to agree and think £3000 is a little bit to much,
