My fan belt snapped the other day... went into halfords and they recomended one (825mm) i have a 1990 cooper rsp... it seems to be the same as the old one... i went to fit it and it seems to small....i undid the two bolts on the top of the alternator to move it forward and it still doesnt seem to want to fit...any ideas? Thanks Luke.

just loosen the 2 top bolts and undo the bolt under the alternator this should give you enough movement to put the belt on.

But now that you know how to do it, think how easy its gonna be next time  ;D  There are lots of jobs on a Mini just like that one
