Right then! My Mini has been leaking oil for the best part of... god knows how long. Its leaking from the passenger side. Things we have tried sorting: Gear change, Tappet chest cover gaskets, Timing cover gasket. Still leaking oil... if not worse than before (As I am sure Rhys and Danny will vouch for me from the Indoor show in Swansea) Here is a pic of the oil leak area (May have to squint) What could it be? Getting really fed up of this, want to keep the engine because it runs tidy... But want it to keep its oil inside... I understand Mini's always drip oil, but there is a difference between an occasional drip like most minis and a constant heavy stream like mine...

Out put shaft seals? Also I have had it leak from the head gasket, the.oil gallery is right in the corner of the block and it don't take much for the oil to find its way to the edge

where by is the oil gallery on the head gasket? (passenger side, rear edge?) Dad did say it could be that when we were doing the tappet chest cover gaskets because there was a fair bit of oil above the cover (I thought it may have been squirting up and out)
The leak seems to be dripping off of the join between the speedo drive box and the gearbox, but doesn't seem to be coming from there, would the output shaft seal failure leak down onto that area?

I hope it's not the half round rubber seal that fits between the gearbox and the block. Engine out for that one annoyingly.

yep the oil gallery is in the very right rear hand corner, when it leaks it runs down behind the timing plate the out around then onto the speedo drive housing
