Hi, I've just bought a 1995 Mini Sidewalk for my daughter, it's absolutely standard (29K miles) and I want to keep it that way. I do have a problem with the CO emissions, they are around 0.70 and need to be around 0.20. I've had the exhaust manifold checked for cracks and also replaced the gaskets. The garage that did this tell me there are no leaks so don't know where the problem is. Any suggestions?

Try a new air filter and some fuel cleaner and give it a good run.

Tappets are fine and doesn't use oil (leaks a little!) - only done 29K miles!

mileage doesnt really count for much, it could have done 29k being screwed and not serviced or 29k careful miles being serviced every 3000 miles or any thing in between

Lambda sensor - I was coming to that conclusion myself, I'll try to find a garage to check it out without charging a fortune. If it's not that, any other suggestions?

If you are after a lambda sensor to check I gots one on a manifold from a MPI, if not you can pick em up pretty cheap on cats2go.co.uk, excuse the pun but thats not a plug they do seem to have cheap prices though.
