Hi Guys,
It's been 15 years since I last had a mini and boy have I missed it! I am in the process of clearing my garage with the view to buying an old rust bucket and turning into a shiney little beauty! (something I done twice in my late teens)
I just dont know the best places to be looking and the prices I should be expecting to pay. I am not bothered about an MOT as the plan will be to make it road worthy myself but need to get one cheap cheap cheap.
Can anyone advise of the best way forward? I live in Newport ....
Thanks Mark
;D

checking the forums is the best bet really! If you go for one from Fleebay you could end up with one far far far worse than you had anticipated (doesn't sound like it'd matter with you though, just be a bit of unexpected work on top)
your other option if you want to keep costs down could be to buy a manky shell, get it solid, then get the rest of the bits needed. If you go with that option could be worth checking with Ryan on here "Hunt" or "hunty"? something like that, because he was on about parting out his current one to get one thats more manageable for him. Must warn you though, its got a fair few holes....Proper holes...
Also, Welcome to the forum!

That would be me, Look at my thread, Its called the Batmobile.. My idea is to break it, to buy another car that I have lined up.. but it would be easier for me to move it on as is if Im honest..

Sod's law, a Mini clubman shell with a V5 sold for little money on Ebay yesterday, and it was in Newport. Yes it needed quite a bit of work, but looked to be in fairly good nick and had already had some new panels added. It would have probably suited your needs. Never mind, the search for a project is half the fun. Good luck.

The biggest thing is not to let the car win you over, dont let emotions get involved as did I, I was having my Mini regardless of the condition.. Lifes one big learning curve eh?

Thanks Huntyfm, just spent the last 45 mins reading about the adventure you've had with the batmobile over the last year! Its looks to be too much for me to bite off right now as my tool collection is low and I'll need to work on something less 'breezy' in order to get me back into the fold.... :/
If you see/hear of anything else that I may be interested in please let me know, otherwise I'll update this forum when I find her...
Thanks Mark

They've gone relatively quickly too, I was given a City E when I was about 9/10 then My old man bought me a solid clubby estate for £150 when I was 12.. but now their silly money..
