Right I've gotta change my headgasket so it seems! Got that horrible gunky oily water stuff going on! Ive never changed one before, ive got a Mini 35 1275 Carb and was wondering if anybody could throw us a few tips on how to go about it and if anybody has any tips and tricks? Crapping myself to be honest that ill take it apart and when putting it back together the thing wont start up!

Number your plug leads and it will fire up fine. don't forget you will need a torque wrench, sandpaper and a razor blade... may as well change the exhaust and rocker cover gasket the same time. I'll try and find the guide i found online before.. it's all in the Haynes

It isn't that difficult, i managed it ;D I think the words "head gasket" are there to frighten everyone! Number everything you take off! the most important bit is cleaning the surfaces before putting the new gasket on - it's well worth taking your time over. If your going to get the head skimmed (i did) make sure it goes to someone who knows their stuff.

Oh and there is a particular order the head bolts have to be done up in (it's in the Haynes) and you will need to re-torque the head bolts after a couple of hundred miles. Have faith I'm sure you'll be just fine
