rightt.. I now suspect my bearings aren't a problem at all just that the castel nut thingy wasnt tight at all When taking the Mini to the MOT station brakes were a bit poo.. and after checking a pad and disk change is in order.. after that only need to put my door back on (not as easy as it sounds!!) and it can be re tested.. wooo

I agree! Have run my Mini with twins and then with a single and there is always balancing to do with the twins, which can be a pain, but you only have to set the single carb once then forget it !!! The only advantage from twins is slightly higher top end speed and minimal acceleration advantage.... but TBH I didnt see all that much difference when I switched to the single. I did notice that I got a much higher MPG tho !!!!!

Right when I went for my Mot last time it failed badly on the emissions I'm sure this is due to some serious over fuelling.. I can adjust the idle screw but the other one that needs to be adjusted has been mangled and can't be altered.. So I'm thinking that I'll have to put my twin carbs on they can't be that hard to get running roughly right? But I do need 4 of the nuts to bolt it to the manifold (5/16 unf?) and a little union where a pipe goes into the bottom of the float chamber.. Ideas peoples?

Took it out to test the brakes and the throttle kept sticking on, almost certain the end of the throttle cable is getting caught on the choke cable?

Still waiting for my doors to return from paint On the plus side.. I've been in contact with a previous owner of my Mini.. Who informed me that its only running a standard 1275 head as he took the stage 4 head off due to a cracked rocker post.. I have the opportunity to buy this back I think I will as he said it was much faster with it.. He also told me that the suicide doors used to fling open on him.. So Im glad that Im getting rid.. Hes going to get back to me with a list of all the mods its had done to it.. I found these too:
