Hello chaps,
Bit of an odd one and probably in the wrong section,
but was the radiator mounted on the side of the early minis due to space and/or low pressure of something in the wing that helped draw air through it keeping it cool? I did I dream that?
cheers in advance.

I think it was fitted there cos thats where it was on the engine before it was dropped into the engine bay then made to work with the wing mountings. Everything else just followed from the front wheel drive / transverse engine setup.

I'd guess that it's because back then nearly all cars had engine driven fans,

Oh I was thinking it was a technical reason haha. I was asking because my golf has a side mounted inter cooler and thought like the mini, it was put there for some technical reason haha.
Cheers for the replies lads
