to be honest november last i was looking for a cheep car to run around in, in the winter,(as my cortinas live in a barn during the winter) and seen this very sorry ass looking mini on the side of the road for sale, (real cheep) ive had minis before, but forgot how cool they were, (really forgot ) i was driving a granny scorpio at the time!!!!!!!!! anyhoo i only bought it to do the winter thing for me (back and for work) then i fell in love with minis again! why not, there great! then things moved on, no granny scorpio any more, it was a mk3 tho, nice car! the square one anyhoo, minis rock, and ive got quite a few of em now,

I've been doing some research on the early Rover Mini Cooper and I had to provide this old Autocar Magazine article from 1988 to the Mainstream Mini Cooper Register and you should find it of interest buddy: - I can't get the 3rd page to load here (is the hyper-link information too long?), so here's a link to that thread instead: - z11.invisionfree.com/mainstreamcooper/index.php?showtopic=214It seems so ironic now to read that the Mini Cooper wasn't going to come back. Anyway the Japanese just couldn't get enough Minis once they'd been introduced there and I can remember seeing a feature on the national TV news back in early 1986 concerning this fact and it was all thanks to the insight of the then chairman of Rover (Canadian born Graham Day). Instead of letting it die a slow and quiet death, he raised the cars profile during the mid 1980's with the 'Minis Have Feelings Too' Xmas TV adverts, introduced it to Japan and then the rest is history. The Japanese also started the craze of converting new Minis to look like 1960's MKI models, right down to fitting adapter plates so the original MKI rear lights would fit. It's funny how times change because a decade or more earlier, people were converting MKI's to look like later Minis and fitting larger rear lights was one of the main things they did.

Looking nice and shiny mate and I gave mine a wash for Singleton, but I hope to give it a quick wash and a polish in time for the L2BR.
