Here's the first pics of me and my Dad's major project which is putting my battered and holey mini neon back on the road. The car. New rear valance welded on. The engine, hopefully won't need any work apart from some minor tweaks. Corrosion to the wing. More corrosion, grill was not salvageable. Took the subframe off, cleaned it up, painted it/coated it and put it back on. Subframe again. Newly welded wheel arch! Yum! All new metal! More pics coming soon, but it's going good so far. Got a load of welding wire, panels and some random bits of household metal as well to chuck in. Hoping to have it done by January.

Doing the doors now too! Just a few rusty spots that need grinding and filling with body filler, plus welding some little bits of metal in. Can't be bothered to buy new doors!

A great winter project. Have you got the funds to have it done by summer?

Yep, funds are ok it's been surprisingly inexpensive to fix. Time is the main expense really...
But by the summer, yeah I should think so.
Latest progress is we've taken off the offside wing, gonna get two new ones. Just had a new exhaust delivered, and put the fuel tank back in (managing to get petrol everywhere). Once the exhausts on we're going to reverse it out of the garage and turn it around so we can carry on on the front, with more space to work in.
Then it needs those new wings, the other sides inner sill and floor pan, and anything on the engine, then it's making it look nice.
Bit of a massive project but there's no turning back now!

P.S if anyone wants to come down and have a look at the project that could be arranged, maybe if anyone else is new to putting minis back together and want to see how things have come together?

You're doing a fine job there. TRy not to rush it though, that's when mistakes could be made. The Mini'll be finished when you least expect it, and It'll be very gratifying driving it for the first time.

Taking our time and getting somewhere now.
The front is a ruin, needs new wings, a-panels, front panel and scuttle. Lol. Not expensive but will take some time. Before we do all that we have to turn it around, so now we have put the fuel tank back in and fitted a new exhaust, and started her up for the first time in three years.
She started beautifully, first time : )
Tomorrow we'll put the steering column and a seat in, and turn the car around so we have space to weld the front.
There's still alot of work to be done but I think we're about half way there.
