are there any particular "years" of manufacture to avoid ?
my quest to find my perfect mini has seen me trawling loads of site's and loads of mini's..
just wondering if anyone had an opinion on this..

That's a tough question Taff. It depends how much you want to spend.?? It all depends do you want standard or modified. If you can find a Mini that Hasn't been messed with IE Patched over repairs, oversills etc. I'm sorry i can't be more helpful Taff, It really is a minefield out there when it comes to looking for a "good" Mini. PS. Knowing the history of the Mini does help.

apperently minis form the 90's were the worst for rust as a cheaper metal had been used.

from what i've seen for sale, the early 90's minis are in no better condition to the early 80's..
I know there are probably lovely examples from every year, but going from what i've seen..
my thought's are....
Do i try and buy a standard car from old mrs hubbard who has owned from new or Do i buy from mr botchit who has been tinkering and modifying...
as phil and monica know, i like to add my personal touch to a mini,
ie:- bigger louder faster..lol
NOTE... I have not tried to imply in any way that peolpe who modify or tinker with the mini are mr botchits...lol

As others have said, the 78 -79s ive seen seemed very solid, the early 90s ive heard horror stories about, mine was 94 and was very good for its age, but it had been superguarded and undersealed all over when knew, ive heard the post 97 mpi's are worst for rust.
