Really? Would that mean that mine could be worth a bit more than a standard one?

Hard to say really. It depends if It's unmolested and in very good condition. Rover brought out so many LE Minis from 1989 onwards some with only a 1000 made and even less in some cases.

a Mini is a Mini... if its a Saloon, unless its a pretene example, its worth no more than the next saloon.

Think you are wrong there Dog
Any original or custom built saloon is worth more than a mid 80's production bag of bolts and rust saloon
Its all down to the individuality of the Mini which is the choices of the owner and how much care is taken with repairs and day to day running.
A well looked after Ltd Edition will always be worth more than a well looked after mainstream production model of the same age

a mini is a mini end of! not quite tho,, its worth is only its value on ebay or when its for sale! i drive a mini red hot (a rare mini indeed) but its worth more to me than its cost, and what ive spent on it!!!!!! so its value is about £5000, ?? but on ebay the other day, a jet black went for £600, id rather open a vein than sell my red hot! even tho it is a temperamental stinking mini, that breaks my heart and wallet!

I think we are getting side tracked here a little. Any Mini is a reflection of its owners choice of individuality, and always has been since the early 60's. If you run and spend wads on your Mini expecting to get it all back when you eventually sell it you are dreaming.
We spend what we spend to make our Mini's "Ours" and not as a future investment. If you value your Mini only by what some cheapskate looking for a 'freebie' bargain would be prepared to offer you for it on eBay then you should go out and buy a push bike!
There is no way in the world that I would expect to recover every penny on my Mini when I come to sell it but that wouldn't be why I was selling it in the 1st place.
I agree that in monetary terms its only value is what someone else is prepared to pay for it but if you value it more than that, then you don't sell it.
Simple really
