hey. just a quick one from me tonight... ive been putting off cleaning my bulkhead up for ages so im going to put it off a bit longer by doing something easier. ;D How do people remove the black paint from the tops of their radiators to expose the brass? im guessing wire wool? or wet and dry? but what grade wet and dry? i dont want to damage the brass too much and id rather it take two days and have a great finish afterwards than it take 10minutes and be scratched to hell. once thats done theres nothing else i can do to put off doing the bulkhead and hopefully itll give me the kick up the arse i need to do the bulkhead! then order the paint for my block and get cracking painting everything!

Get some paint stripper, paint it on with a brush, leave for 15 mins then wash it off with lots of water (Hose pipe is good!) If it doesn't get all the black paint off the 1st time then repeat the process until it does. After all the black paint is removed use a wire brush or wire wool then polish with brasso. You will need to put some protection over the wing while using the hose pipe as paint stripper on a wing is not a good look and will give you another major problem alltogether!!!!!!!!! For this reason Its a very good job to do if you have removed the rad from the car 1st jc

I may well take you up on that Biker im hoping its not too hard to remove the radiator? take off grille, undo bottom bolt on radiator, undo the top lot of gumph, disconnect pipes, get soaked, remove? hm if ive got to remove the radiator i may aswell paint my block etc while its out.... so ill have to order that grey hammerite =/. looks like i will actually have to do my bulkhead first... for the bulkhead should i etch prime, spray paint, laquer. or should i just etch prime, hammerite black? im putting one of those foam sound deadening pads on anyway so the finish doesnt have to be spot on, im just thinking about durability in the long run? also will hammerite stick to waxoyl? my engine bay walls are caked in the stuff =/

Yeah if you could PM me your number biker that would be great (new phone and it crashed = lost allll my numbers) i probably wont be doing it until next week when my block paint arrives. but still would be cool to get some pointers. does anoyone know if hamerite would be a better idea for my bulkhead rahter than spraying and does anyone know if hammerite sticks to waxoyl? because i need something to hide or at least colour the waxoyl... it looks god awful at the moment...

If you do this with your radiator... do you have to protect the brass with anything? Lacquer maybe?
