bought some spots for the mini today. from what i can see they fit straight to the front bumper which is no problem i hope, my question is what do i wire them to. Any ideas of the best place to take it for electrics in swansea area  |

i used to wire mine onto the main beam wires on my other cars but not sure about the mini.

think relays, at least two of em, look it up on line, easy if you do the research , but your electrics will melt if you get it wrong, my bros a lecky but hes in abbertillery,, ive got a 1000 watts on the front end ,,,  then you have to ditch the alternator for a bigger one,  |

you should fit a relay to wire the lights,
the main beam to switch the relay then a seperate 12v supply to run the spots,
you could probably pick up a wiring kit at most motor factors, but its not too difficult to make your own.

just looked at mine and it just comes off the same fuse as the main beam.theres an extra inline fuse put in and it seems to run straight to the the spots with no relay.then earthed.find someone else with a cooper with spots and check.

only thing with mine is that with 4 spots on it drains the power.my dash lights dim a bit and voltmeter shows 10 to 11 volts.is that acceptable?

wear football boots.its easier to run after them then.when your behind a sheep wellies arent much good cos their sh*t goes flyin everywhere! Oh um so i been told :-)

Getting back to the Spotlights thread you spammers!!!!!................ ;D ;D ;D 10 / 11 volts is OK as long as the lamps aren't on for long periods, If they are, or if there are other things on as well like heaterd rear window, wipers, heater fan etc then its time to think of uprating the alternator to a Metro Turbo one - something to keep in mind if your standard alternator dies anytime soon!!!!!   jc |
