Mk1's have an open frame on the inside and the screw holes for the fold down / swinging Number plate. Oh and a smaller rectangle for the No plate. Mk2's have a closed inner frame which is ribbed. The rest of the bootlid is the same as Mk1. Mk3 on have an open inner frame like Mk1's, but don't have holes for the fold down bracketry and have a larger a rectangle for the No plate.

Cheers Dai, It's the Mk2 i am watching at the moment then, I'll have to start looking for MK1 too though if they are easier to get hold of be prepared to spend the readies if it's a goodun. I searched high n low for one for the S and still had to repair the bottom of it.

Most of the ones i'm watching need a bit of work Why not wait until Castle combe. There's always some in da auto jumbles. You'll save on postage then. That way you could pay a bit more for a tidy one. It'll save me welding in a new bottom edge.

Quickly delete that post before he see's it ;D Fair play to him, he is planning it well and wants it to lok as retro as possible , Only trouble is he keeps asking me " Can I fit this? Is this the right type ? " great that hehas the passion but it can get annoying when it's 300 times a day Oh, and he'll need a suitable wiring loom, or if you know of a good wires man he/she could adapt what you;ve got.

Well as long as he doesnt mind using the wiper switch for the lights, the heater for the indicators and a push start using ther horn I'll do it for him 2nd thoughts, think I'll ask someone else ;D He doesn't want a floor starter does he. About march 64 ish they were changed for the key start ignition.
