I've noticed that there is no sign of the white / yellow cable yet. Just a thought, does the single brown cable on the solenoid fit on the spare connector.

Thanks for the tip Taffy but I cant be affording or attempting to change the loom. Plus its probably something silly that I've either forgotten to put on or wire up.
Daoi, I havent managed to spot that white and yellow cable yet. Barely had 30 mins to look at the mini today, and the weather is shockingly bad tomorrow. Rain from morning til night it looks. If it breaks at all I will pull the plastic casing out which I put in and hunt for that wire! The spade connector only fits one of the spades, one is large and the other is standard size.

Tracked down the white and yellow wire!! Basically theres a white with orange/brown (too dark to be certain) that someone has bodged a bullet onto, which has the white and yellow cable coming out of a female spade connector. This then has a plastic female connector on the end of it. The white with black cable has a male spade connector at the end of it. It took the two blue spade connectors off the 998's dizzy. Theres another white with black cable further down the loom aswell where the alternator wires are coming out.

This is crazy, my indicators are still working even though the wires are like this : Looking at the wiring diagram, the brown wire (power) should go to the fusebox to provide power for the ignition switch which isnt even connected and then that powers the accessories. But for some reason all my accessories are powered constantly

This is madness, I've taken all the fuses out of my fusebox yet the ignition light is still on, and the petrol gauge works too (tested by taking the wires off the tank) but the indicators arent working now.
How is it getting power?!?!?!

Well, what can one say M2I. Apart from, That is one botched wiring job. I've read your thread on TMF and can't believe what i'm seeing I can't understand how the electrics worked before, when you had the 998 motor. Just sheer good luck i reckon. Your loom is repairable, but you will obviously need a suitable wiring diagram and practically start from scratch. Anywhere that there is fresh looking tape on the existing loom will need to be taken off to check the wiring underneath just in case there's another botched join or connection. Sadly it'll be a tough learning curve sorting that lot out. I'll try and help you as much as possible on line. Good luck.

I believe the black/white wire on the coil is for the rev counter?

How much work is involved removing the loom? And how much are they to buy?

How much work is involved removing the loom? And how much are they to buy? Check the Somerford Minis pdf pages I posted at the top of this thread. Also compare prices with these people: - www.autosparks.co.uk/index.php?cPath=150

i changed the front half of a loom in the girlfreinds car a year or so back, was pritty striaght forward i had a few things to change as the new loom was from a much newer mini but all went easy. if you can get a direct replacment it will be very easy it really is just unplug old, remove it, feed new loom thru bulk-head etc then plug back in
not realy sure about price, i was told mini spares had them cheap a while back ( well cheaper than the others)

Autosparks seem pretty reasonable.
