the rims on these wheels have a diamond cut rim which in this case has corroded under the lacquer they wont come good which ever product you use
there are 2 ways to go
1. rub down smooth with 800 wet and dry then paint the whole wheel silver and lacquer 2. send to a wheel refurbisher to have the rims re polished approx £50 per wheel
hope this helps

there is a place in lonlas workshops in skewen that does powder coating, i have had a few bits done with them over the years and come out pretty good, the last thing i had done was my rear subframe
they used to be called "surface systems" not sure what they are called now but they are still in the same place

The wheels could be refinished by YOU, BUT this is a laborious pain in the ass job. I have polished alloy on my bikes for years. Get the tires removed. Rub down with 800 wet'n'dry then when all smooth, go down to 1000 and then even 1200 if needs be. Get yourself a polishing kit (usually a drill adaptor, 2 mops (rough and fine) and 3 bars of "soap" £25-£35 most good motorcycle shops and a battery drill or bench grinder attachment then use the polishing soaps in the kit. You can get a mirror finish but like I say serious elbow grease time. Alright for the tight arse (like me ). These rims used to be green and the frame painted silver.

the powder coating place that i went to for a price in Hirwaun industrial estate wanted £20 per wheel shot-blasted & powdered and they said they would do them over night. so i dould drop them off in the afternoon and pick them up the next morning.
think they where called somthing like " Hirwaun powder coating services" but apparently there is another company up there as well

I've also heard of one in Caerphilly called Caerphilly polishers: -
Don't know how much they charge though.
Other than that is powder coating a good idea on wheels that will be used in all weathers? Won't they corrode behind the lacquer or something?

Other than that is powder coating a good idea on wheels that will be used in all weathers? Won't they corrode behind the lacquer or something? i havent heard of any problems and powder coat is much more chip resistant than lacquer, i'll be getting my wellers done in the next few weeks so this winter will be the test. i've posted these pics before of the revo's i refurbed, took forever to get the powder coat off the centers, i had to attack it with 80 grit then work my way up to 600. the lacquer got the same treatment but starting with 240. 4 coats of high build primer then sprayed the center, masked it off and did the rim then the whole thing had a few coats of lacquer. probly cost around £15-20 in paint per wheel so poweder coating is relativly cheap and saves alot of time. the one thing to consider with the powder coating alloys is that if their shot blast first the grit leaves a pitted surface and sometimes the powder coating doesnt then achive a smooth finish

That's a quality looking job you did there. What colour silver is that cos the last set I refurbed with aluminium wheel silver, it looked to have a yellowy tinge to the silver and whilst it was a nice job, I would have prefered a nicer colour.
