I once saved a mouse from the family cat (okay I was just a kid and the cat was playing with it on the garden lawn, probably before exterminating it). But the mouse bit my finger soon after I picked it up, so I dropped it and then I fell down the garden steps and sprained my ankle. My dad was no help and told me it was my fault, so my mother wasn't too pleased when she came home.

You'll probably love this one. Right the summer of 1990 I received a letter from Lex Rover of Cardiff inviting me to see the unveiling of the new Mini Cooper. Well I was amazed as I had no idea they were even contemplating using that famous name again. Anyway I felt gutted as I'd sold my Mini Mayfair a few months earlier, (at that time I owned a boring 1988 Ford Escort 1.3L) but I was so intrigued that I decided to check it out anyway. The letter (I'll post a copy after my story) also stated that the best person dressed in 1960's gear would win a prize. So me and Marie (we weren't married then) thought we'd give it a go. I wore my favourite 'Carnaby Street' psychedelic shirt and she wore a Mini Skirt and lots of beads and stuff. Anyway on arrival we nearly died of shame as everyone was wearing suits and evening gowns and there we were like Sonny and Cher!!! Well we tried to blend into the background as much as we could, but it wasn't easy. We didn't even get a prize, so we were clearly robbed. Mind you I didn't have the guts to say anything at the time, I probably would now though. Here's that letter and Rover, you owe me 50 quid!: - i97.photobucket.com/albums/l236/taffy1967/Mainstream%20Mini%20Cooper%20Stuff/LexRoverCardiffLetter20071990.jpgThe Mini Cooper was a flame red RSP Cooper LE and my old mate (from the long since defunct Gwent Mini Club) was there with his island blue MKII Cooper S. I'm just sorry I didn't take my camera now, because it certainly got me back into Minis as I bought a second hand City E that autumn and I've not been without a Mini since. I even bought our Mini Cooper second hand from Lex Rover of Cardiff in January 1994. Perhaps I should have asked for a £50.00 discount?

Oh and I just remembered, I once had the rear of my Mini up on axle stands doing a job. I then went to start the car and it flew off the axle stands and shot forwards into the garage doors. Thankfully it didn't do any damage at all to my Mini, the axle stands nor the garage door. Yes I'd left it in gear.

ok since couple of you have had the guts to open up to few c-ck ups i'll go again, back when i first left school + started work on the buildings i was given a job of knocking down 1 of the old chimneys that we were replaceing on envelope type scheme in cynon valley. after bout 20 mins of knocking away at the chimney with small hammer + bolster i had a bright idea of useing a sledge hammer cos it takeing too long. all going well for couple of mins of tapping the bricks loose with the added weight a mate of mine decided to shout upto me as i was swinging the sledge + like an idiot i looked up towards him, missed the chimney + proceded down the roof still holding the sledge in my hand + bounced of the roof + thank god the open back tipper was parked below where i was working with a load of sand in the back waiting to be tipped. a stunt man could not of done it better but my boss did'nt see it that way as on my way down i damaged a load of tiles, ripped the guttering down + scared the hell out of a granny walking past at the time

The Fall Guy?
I was thinking more on the lines of 'The Marty Feldman Show', or Benny Hill.
