Where has all the nice weather gone? I've just tried to swap my damaged drivers door but do you think I could take the 4 nuts off? Not a chance!
Managed to get 1 off last night and another this morning, but the other 2 are rounded, covered in underseal and rusted to the stud.
I've spent the mroning trying to get them off by hammering sockets and spanners onto whats left of the nut, but have given up now because i'm fed up of being blown around, rained on and so cold that i cant even feel it when the spanner slips and i catch my knuckles on the bodywork.
I've wasted 2 hours and I all i got to show for it is a temper, bloody hands and a door that is still firmly attached to my mini.
Rant over!

I dunno whether to just force (with breaking) the window into position in my current door so that I cant wind it down for now and wait til the weather is better to fuss about with swapping the door out.
I'm really wound up now, stupid door hinge nuts

have you tried the hex bolts on the inside of the door???
i got a hex set a bit like allan keys and it did the trick fine, just took the one off inside the wing and the other inside the door. if you can get them off maybe you can get a new hinge for it

I tried twice, but stopped because I didnt want to ruin the hex cutout. I couldnt get a driver to sit straight into the bolt, even after taking the pin out to open the door wider.
I dont mind if the studs snap because the new door has hinges and I've found nuts to fit it but they dont seem to want to break.
Theres only 2 nuts still holding it in place but the door is still really secure!

Well its beaten me for tonight, I managed to take out 4 of the 5 hex bolts but suprise suprise the top one's key chewed and nothing I tried could budge it. I've spent the last 2 hours cutting the door to bits around the hinge to try and free it but its still quite firmly in place. I've spilt even more blood and the inside skin of the door is now a little out of shape (boy that felt good! ;D) so I think I'll bring the drill home from ponty next weekend and try to drill the head off the last bolt. So once again my mini will be under the tarp for another week. I finally get my mini to a useable state for my enjoyment of mini's to once again be taken away from me because my mini will stuck at the back of our drive for another week. I've even taken some of the paint off the panel next to the door which added to my already steaming temper. I've touched up all the places on the body where the paint is missing or theres a scratch that has gone down to the metal but the orange paint pen i used is not a close much, not at all, but will stop it rusting away til I can afford a respray in the new year. Do you think the mini god is trying to tell me something? How I long to just enjoy my mini....
